Operational Readiness

• Own reliability, condition, safety, and readiness of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure across bakeries, cafés, offices, and warehouses
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules for all bakery equipment, building systems, and utilities, balancing internal teams and external partners
• Ensure leadership coverage and escalation paths across all shifts for critical equipment, facility, and sanitation issues
• Establish org-wide workflows for identifying, prioritizing, assigning, escalating, and closing work, with the CMMS as the central system
• Lead technical response to failures and interruptions, and coordinate major maintenance windows, shutdowns, equipment moves, and recommissioning
• Partner with Production, Hospitality, and Food Safety to anticipate needs and maintain clear ownership when problems arise

Industrial Operations

• Build and lead an Industrial Operations organization that supports current operations and future growth
• Establish clear roles, decision rights, and accountability across Maintenance, Facilities, and Sanitation
• Assess capability and coverage gaps, develop staffing plans, and recruit, develop, and retain the required expertise
• Build leadership depth and distribute technical knowledge, reducing reliance on any single individual
• Determine which capabilities to build internally versus source from specialized partners
• Build systems, documentation, and vendor relationships so the organization doesn't depend on individual memory

Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

• Lead and develop the Senior Maintenance Manager and maintenance team
• Build a disciplined preventive and predictive maintenance program supported by strong CMMS practices and accurate asset history
• Own an equipment reliability scorecard covering PM execution, downtime, recurring failures, and maintenance effectiveness
• Drive root-cause analysis and lasting corrective action rather than repeated short-term fixes
• Ensure critical equipment is supported by spare parts, documentation, and internal and external expertise

Facilities & Infrastructure

• Lead and develop the Facilities Coordinator; set standards for the condition of all properties
• Maintain critical building systems: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, fire/life safety, and building envelope
• Develop a long-term facilities plan identifying major repair and replacement needs before they become emergencies
• Manage the network of facilities contractors and service providers
• Own utilities and energy infrastructure (electrical, gas, water, solar), with visibility into consumption, performance, and improvement opportunities
• Own company-wide waste and recycling programs against Bread Alone's environmental commitments

Sanitation

• Lead and develop the centralized Sanitation team, setting standards, schedules, and accountability across bakery and café locations
• Establish clear ownership between centralized Sanitation and site teams for daily, deep, equipment, and PM cleaning
• Build and execute a preventive-maintenance cleaning program, deploying resources based on operational and equipment needs
• Partner with Food Safety and site leaders to meet food safety standards within production and café realities
• Own sanitation chemicals, equipment, vendors, training, and safety practices
• Ensure sanitation work is documented, measured, and continuously improved

Capital Projects & Asset Planning

• Partner with the CEO and functional leaders to identify and prioritize equipment, facility, and infrastructure investments
• Lead capital projects from technical scoping and equipment selection through installation, commissioning, and handoff
• Manage manufacturers, engineers, and contractors to deliver safely, on time, and within budget
• Develop a long-term asset plan balancing reliability, operating cost, food safety, environmental performance, and growth
• Own Industrial Operations budgets and forecasts, and partner with Finance on capital priorities

Profile required

Required

• 10+ years in manufacturing, food production, or another equipment-intensive environment, including leadership roles
• Proven leadership of maintenance, reliability, facilities, or industrial operations teams, including managing managers
• Strong knowledge of industrial equipment, preventive maintenance, reliability practices, and troubleshooting
• Experience building maintenance and reliability systems, including effective CMMS use
• Track record of developing managers and building capability beyond individual experts
• Experience leading capital projects and managing manufacturers, contractors, and technical vendors
• Calm, decisive judgment during equipment failures and high-pressure situations
• Strong cross-functional leadership and communication, with clear accountability
• Comfortable moving between strategic leadership and hands-on problem solving in the operation
• Commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and team development

Preferred

• Bakery, food manufacturing, or other highly regulated production environment
• Multi-site or multi-facility experience
• Sanitation programs and food-safety-driven operations
• Leading organizations through growth, change, or rising complexity
