Role Purpose:
The Cable Route Support Engineer is a technical role within the Marine Route Engineering & Survey Department. The primary role will be to support Cable Route Engineers across ASN supply Contracts. Day-to-day activities will typically include:
• Desk top Study (DTS) research & generation
• Site Visit coordination, participation and reporting
• Route design work (in MakaiPlan) and Route Position List (RPL) production
• Marine Survey operations planning & preparation, monitoring and QC
• Crossing Notification production
• Geographical Information System (GIS) knowledge capture and GIS platform input
Workload allocation will be through close coordination with the Principal Cable Route Engineer and Cable Route Engineering team.
The role will also support the Route Engineering Manager, monitoring performance metrics for Senior Management review, posting mission complete broadcasts for ASN Intranet publication, and coordination of offshore ASN Representatives for site visits and vessel operations.
The Cable Route Support Engineer will provide valued support to ongoing operations and activities of the Route Engineering & Survey Department, supporting all pre-manufacture cable survey and cable routing strategies through design, manufacture and installation stages.
Role Responsibilities:
• Office based role allocated across projects supporting Cable Route Engineering activities.
• Reviewing and performing quality control of Marine Survey Reports delivered to ASN prior to Customer delivery.
• Potential for worldwide travel (site visits, customer & sub-contractor meetings, survey operations) as required or requested.
• Working as a member of the Route Engineering team, progressing projects through initial feasibility studies and marine survey to installation phase.
• Working within the ASN Marine directorate and supporting the ASN Project Management directorate.
Wanted profil
Experience / Qualifications:
- A Degree in Oceanography, Hydrographic Survey, Ocean Science, or related Earth Sciences subjects.
- Good working knowledge of GIS packages such as ARC GIS/QGIS.
- Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
- Self-motivated, flexible, cooperative and enthusiastic to work within a team dedicated to project delivery across the ASN business, playing a key part in helping to connect the world through modern fibre-optic submarine cable systems.
