Description du poste

Submarine Network Operations Center (NOC) is a centralized location from where a submarine cable system is monitored and managed keeping it operational and reliable.

The activity refers here to a transcontinental submarine cable system provisioned by Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN): ASN NOC is operating that submarine cable system and is looking for engineers to ensure the NOC activity.

Responsibilities

NOC engineer monitors and maintains the Submarine Network:

• Monitoring and operating the system through dedicated network and equipments supervision systems

• First level investigating to evaluate issues and potentially trigger 3^rd party support teams’ intervention

• Coordinating cable landing station staff and equipments providers support fixing any issue

• Applying preventive maintenance and sparing management activities

• Coordinating and following-up repair processes

• Ensuring NOC documentation and procedures creation and update

• Interfacing and reporting to the submarine cable system owner

Skills

Internal training can be organised, ideal technical skills are one or several amongst the following:

• Network management system: Knowledge of some network supervision systems (as ASN SN10)

• Network Equipments ideal skills
• Operating optical telecom networks equipments (as ASN 1620 Softnode)
• Operating cable powering equipments (as ASN Power Feeding Equipments)
• Operating optical repeaters and wavelength selective switching equipments Submarine equipments (Repeaters, Branching Unit, ROADM) or equivalent

• Submarine cable repair coordination

Other very welcome technical skills:

• Submarine or Terrestrial Line Terminal Equipments
• Data communication network (IP routing, VPN)

Tools

• Ticketing systems usage
• MS Office

Languages:

• Working in English and French
