· Assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, & modification of systems.
· Communicate status, manage expectations, resolve issues, and insure system functionality.
· Work with technicians, vendors, contractors, and leadership on assigned projects.
· Provide expertise to continue advancement of automated systems throughout the site.
· Install, maintain, and inspect control systems and workstation installations throughout the facility.
· Inspect and review manufacturing equipment installations for design and troubleshooting purposes.
· Ensure machines are properly calibrated, when applicable.
· Assist Maintenance Coordinator on annual calibrations and inspections of equipment.
· Coordinate personnel schedules and duties as required to accomplish departmental goals.
· Provide technical and business guidance and mentoring for automation technicians and automation engineers.
· Provide system operation training on the assigned automation systems.
· Provide troubleshooting and maintenance support for all assigned automated systems potentially at all hours depending upon plant schedule.
- Support continuous improvement, modification of job plans or work orders, inspection audits, assisting vendors who are on site for repairs.
· Propose and monitor all necessary machinery and equipment adjustments and performs all tasks and duties necessary for efficient start-ups, daily operations, change-over and shut-downs.
· Participate and assist in the installation and training of new machinery.
· Identify, implement, and document maintenance and reliability best practices.
· Provide training and continuous development for all maintenance personnel.
· Update Preventive Maintenance plans based on data analysis of failures.
· Work directly with machine operators and production supervisors to resolve mechanical issues that arise during shifts/production.
· Maintain industrial control system.
· Enforces department rules and procedures.
· Work independently and with other team members to complete repairs timely and safely.
· Work with other departments on root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to help drive efficiency and yield.
· Understand and follow plant safety rules including safe lifting practices and safe machine operation. Personal Protective Equipment is to be used where required.
· Develop and maintain quality and safety standards.
· Adhere to Bakerly’s safety policies and procedures.
· Adhere to Bakerly’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
Profile required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Electrical and Mechanical technology or Industrial Automation experience a must.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule when needed.
- Education and/or experience with PLCs, industrial electricity, automation control and mechanical repairs.
- Familiarity with plant specific automation products i.e., SewEuro, Siemens PLCs & VFDs.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in industrial/mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing of packaged goods environment preferred**.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) to look up part location/availability on computer using maintenance software.
- Knowledge in AutoCAD / Solidworks would be a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with managers, technicians, contractors, and be able to explain electrical/mechanical processes and theory.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly using proper techniques.
- Good problem-solving abilities and result oriented.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, heights, in and around machinery and chemicals.
