Role purpose:

Development, qualification, and documentation of hardware to be used in Power Feeding Equipment (PFE) product.

The PFE provides the current to power undersea cable systems, generating High Voltage (up to 21kV DC at up to 2 Amps) from a low to medium voltage DC supply, with a long system life and high reliability.

Role and Responsibilities:

Product development within the following Electrical \ Electronic engineering disciplines:

• - Analogue and digital circuit design
• - A to D and D to A techniques
• - Closed loop control (analogue and digital)
• - FPGA and CPLD hardware implementation (VHDL or Verilog)
• - Interfaces (VME, RS422/485/232, CAN, USB, Ethernet)
• - Power Electronics (not essential but will be an advantage)

Tools:

• - Simulation (e.g. PSpice)
• - Schematic capture and PCB layout
• - Digital (e.g. VHDL) tool chains / vendor IDEs
• - MS Office tools

Developed products to be modelled and tested during the development phase and formally validated during the qualification phase against requirements for:

• - Agreed Functionality
• - Environmental conditions
• - Reliability, availability & lifetime
• - Manufacturability & testability
• - Cost

Generation of requirement specifications, schematics, test information, reports, and manufacturing information as required.

Wanted profil

Education/qualifications/experience:

• Electrical / Electronics Engineering Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in relevant R&D, preferably with experience of manufacturing.
• Good understanding of general electrical/electronic and mechanical engineering principles.
• Good communication skills.
