Senior Electronics Lead F/M

Purpose of the Job

Development, qualification, and documentation of hardware for Power Feeding Equipment (PFE) product.

The PFE provides the current to power undersea communication cable systems. It generates High Voltage (up to 21kV DC at up to 2 Amps) from a low to medium voltage DC supply and must have a long system life and high reliability.

Responsibilities

Product development within the following Electrical \ Electronic engineering disciplines:

• - Manage & provide team leadership to a small size electronic design team - consisting of Electronic Design Engineers (2-3 engineers).
• - You must be able to code VHDL/Verilog and implement FPGA/CPLD designs.
• - Be responsible for digital circuit design definition and implementation including components such as Microcontrollers, DSP, CPLD, FPGA, DAC/ADC, communication interfaces such as RS422, USB, Ethernet etc.
• - Review and implement design procedures for the team.
• - Full Documentation, configuration management, providing plans, progress reports and driving organization KPIs.
• - HW deign release & manufacturing releases using PLM tools such as PTC Windchill.
• - Leading and participating in the design, analysis, and execution of all technical aspects of electronic products / projects which meet or exceed the hardware requirements and organization KPIs.
• - Be responsible for the performance of the Electronic Design Team working within project and program teams to ensure an increase in the Engineering Department capability through team and individual development.
• - Be responsible for the performance management and development of individuals within the team to support them achieve their goals and talent development.
• - Be responsible for the planning, management, and allocation of resources within the Electronic Design Team, including recruitment and training of fresh staff.
• - Lead design activities for circuits, PCBAs, and systems using Zuken CR5000/Altium CAD
• - You will provide technical and people leadership to the team to achieve product performance, production, quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
• - Identify project risk, where appropriate offer plans to mitigate risk.
• - Lead the engineering verification and validation processes, including the use of DFMEA.
• - Ensure PCB design standards and materials that comply to the latest IPC standards, including REACH and RoHS regulations.
• - Knowledge & ability to design to global safety and EMC standards.
• - Conduct Electronics architecture & design peer reviews.
• - Drive ideation and feasibility evaluation, System Integration.
• - Liaising with suppliers and third parties.

Tools:

Circuit Simulation (e.g. PSpice)

Schematic capture and PCB layout Zuken CR5000/Altium

Experience on Altera Max-II CLPD and MAX10 FPGA or similar devices.

Familiarity with test equipment (e.g. PSU, oscilloscope, gain/phase analyser, I & V measurements)

MS Office tools

Qualifications:

- Degree in electrical/electronic engineering; at least 6 years’ experience

- Must have good expertise in mixed signal HW designs with CPLD/FPGA implementation( though not overly complex)

-Good technical knowledge on electrical/electronic and mechanical engineering principles.

-Experience in defining of HW Engineering process definition and implementation.

-Experience in leading projects and teams in low-volume manufacturing.

-Experience in electronics design within a regulated environment.

-Knowledge and some experience of systems engineering would be advantageous.

-Good communication, leadership qualities, including leading and developing engineers.
