Post description
- Lead and execute advanced diagnostics, repairs, and calibration of Fusion splicers and related equipment.
- Develop, review, and continuously improve maintenance and calibration procedures.
- Ensure all tooling and splicing equipment are serviceable and meet compliance and safety standards.
- Validate that the latest specifications, drawings, and technical references are used by the team.
- Mentor and coach manufacturing technicians and junior engineers on splicing fault analysis and best practices.
- Lead root cause analysis for recurring equipment faults and implement corrective actions.
- Oversee documentation management for all repairs, calibrations, and maintenance activities, ensuring readiness for audit.
- Verify that all permits and calibration certificates are valid and systematically monitored.
- Support the planning of splicing equipment lifecycle management and recommend equipment upgrades when appropriate.
- Collaborate across departments to ensure efficient, quality-driven splicing operations aligned with production schedules.
- Prepare and present reports on equipment performance, downtime analysis, and maintenance effectiveness to senior management.
- Promote a collaborative and supportive environment, mentoring junior staff and driving a culture of accountability and cross-functional teamwork.
- Promote 6s and lean manufacturing principles, actively supporting the area champion in driving CIs
- Work with other teams on NPIs and NRPs
- follow process and adhere to STOP process for Safety and Quality.
- Communicate effectively with departmental staff & internal customers.
- Build and Maintain good working relationships with department colleagues, staff and support depts. And other teams
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and data as required
- Record and track any improvement opportunities actively seeking them from team
- Act as a role model for safety and quality promoting use of STOP culture
- Ensure company Health & Safety policies are applied; ensure all staff activities are carried out in a safe manner.
- Review of tooling as fit for purpose, replacing if required
- Highlighting of equipment to replace
- Drive changes to equipment using data
- Work with production supervisors to enhance use of equipment
- Identify areas of concern with stations and equipment
- Support to NPI process
Profile required
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a service or support role outside or within ASN.
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
- Previous supervisory or line management experience.
- Experience of Lean manufacturing principles an advantage
- Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively interact with others Communication skills, written and oral
- Interpersonal skills
- Able to demonstrate excellent organizational Skills – Able to plan production schedules and monitor materials availability.
- Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, manage conflict and drive results
- Ability to move and navigate amongst different areas
- Proactive and supportive nature
- Acceptance of night shift when required OR will be required to work shift patterns as required
