Overall Objective

Assist the Production Supervisor to ensure the efficient running of the manufacturing line. Lead a technical team in order to maximise people efficiency and deliver weekly output to required quality.

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES/ ACTIVITIES

 

Process:

  • Ensure that technicians comply with the assembly and disassembly processes.
  • Ensure all Tooling and Equipment used is in good working order and within calibration
  • Ensure the stop to work and intervene policy is adhered to
  • Ensure all specifications and drawings used are up to date.
  • Manage departmental scrap, generating scrap notes when required, where applicable.
  • Ensure any permits used are within date.
  • Provide support and guidance to Technicians in order to reduce lost time and inefficiencies.
  • Ensure technicians are following process, raising appropriate paperwork to request changes
  • Maintain
  • Understand all people management policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with all ASN policies and procedures.
  • Support team with regular walk/talk and observation of build
  • Raise an IRIS Quality or H&S ticket when an issue arises and follow up to ensure that instructions are clear and followed
  • Inspect the materials received and ensure that supply meets the production order requirements
  • Ensure all consumables and materials are stocked. Conduct and close stock counts as and when required.
  • Promote 6s and lean manufacturing principles, actively supporting the area champion in driving CIs
  • Requirement to work on Lean and 6S if requested
  • WIP must be balanced to ensure weekly output targets are met

  • Team Work:
  • Mentor new technicians, ensure they understand what is required.
  • Build employee motivation and morale.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental staff & supervision.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with department staff and supervisors.
  • Cover for the supervisor in their absence
  • Present team briefs
  • Ensure all team members have completed their training and are officially certified before they begin any process

 

Planning and Reporting

·     Assist with the implementation of the production schedule to ensure departmental weekly demand is met.

·     Liaise with supervisor and materials team to ensure material availability.

·     Assist supervisor in tracking & recording key departmental KPIs.

·     Record and track any improvement opportunities actively seeking them from team

·     Preparation of daily handover sheet

 

Training

·     Ensure technicians are competent to do their tasks. This will come from an assessment carried out by trainers.

·     Ensure section Training Competency Records are up to date.

·     Assist with Operator Compliance Assessments and discussions

·     Ensure departmental training qualification/re-qualification plans are up to date. Liaise with Supervisor.

·     Assist supervisor in carrying out & recording yearly training reviews with section staff.

·     Carry out the delivery of toolbox talks as required

·     Regular reviews and monitoring of staff on tools

 

QHSE

·     Act as a role model for safety and quality promoting use of STOP culture

·     Enforce and Adhere to local clean area rules (ESD, Washing hands etc). Report non-compliance to supervisor.

·     Adhere to mandatory Quality and Safety procedures, including build documentation, ESD, Risk assessments, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations.

·     Ensure section product paperwork/SAP is correctly completed.

·     Respond to product quality issues in a timely manner, providing support to Production Engineering as required.

·     Participate in improvements & assist in improvement implementation.

·     Provide departmental lost time data for supervisor reports CNQ and efficiency reporting.

·     Assist supervisor to ensure company H&S policy is applied & ensure staff behave in a safe manner.

·     Assist supervisor to ensure Departmental health and safety checks are carried out on time and equipment is labelled where required.

·     Adhere to all section COSHH & Risk assessments. Use the correct PPE.

·     Ensure you & section staff follow ESD protocols

·     Ensure Hazardous Waste is removed from the area in a timely fashion.

·     Report all Accidents & Near Misses in a timely manner to Supervision.

·     Verify all team members have read, signed and understood the risk assessments

 

Administrative

·     Deal with section personnel issues (holidays, sickness, Timekeeping, grievances) and escalate it to the supervisor.

·     Use of all system tools necessary for the job.

·     Participate in the recruitment process.

·     Stand in for supervisor with return-to-work interviews

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTONOMY

Wanted profil

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCES & COMPETENCIES

 

  • Experience of Lean manufacturing principles an advantage
  • Communication skills, written and oral
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organisational Skills – Able to plan production schedules and monitor materials availability.
  • Familiarity with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to move and navigate amongst different areas
  • Acceptance of night shift when required OR will be required to work shift patterns as required
