MAIN ACTIVITIES

 

Client Relationship

  • Define the client engagement strategy in collaboration with the Sales team, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall sales and margin objectives.
  • Develop and manage the client reporting strategy and associated tools (e.g., SharePoint).
  • Negotiate contract variations (CVs), associated purchase orders, acceptance certificates, and residual defect lists during provisional acceptance (PA).
  • Oversee the resolution of all anomalies identified during PA, coordinating with relevant project team members.

Internal Organisation

  • Coordinate the activities of the assigned Project Team, defining the execution strategy and priorities.
  • Supervise operational tasks, setting project priorities and objectives.
  • Optimise resource allocation, organise regular and ad-hoc team meetings, and distribute minutes.
  • Plan and facilitate the project handover to the Services team following PA.
  • Prepare and lead the post-PA lessons-learned session (Plenary Lessons Learned Meeting) as part of the Lessons Learned & Experience Gained programme.

 

Financial Aspects

  • Ensure project performance targets are met (cost, margin, and quality).
  • Implement the margin improvement strategy defined during the Kick-Off Meeting (KOM), reducing costs and increasing revenue through CVs and compensations.
  • Validate consolidated figures (sales, margin, costs, etc.) prepared by the Project Financial Controller (PFC).
  • Ensure the accuracy of forecasts (margin at completion, billing, risks/opportunities, contract variations) with support from the Project Team.
  • Define the supplier selection and procurement strategy in collaboration with the PPM and Procurement Department.

 

Planning

  • Organise and lead the Project Kick-Off Meeting (KOM) at least one month after the Hand Over Meetings (THOM, MHOM, HOM). The KOM aims to finalise:
  • Project scope,
  • Financial elements (including margin targets and budget),
  • Project timeline.
  • Ensure adherence to project schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Supervise the delivery of project documentation as planned.

 

Risk Management

  • Identify and manage project risks and opportunities (including financial impacts and client satisfaction), anticipating potential issues.
  • Develop and execute risk mitigation plans.

 

Reporting

  • Prepare and present the Monthly Project Review (PMR) with support from the Project Team.
  • Analyse progress and performance indicators to track project health.

 

 RESPONSIBILITIES and AUTONOMY

 

  • Under delegation from a GPM Level 1 & 2 to lead one or more projects under their authority.
  • Is responsible for the on-time delivery of the project.
  • Defines and supervises the project execution strategy and proposes all necessary corrective plans to prevent the project from falling behind schedule.
  • Is the main ASN interface for clients throughout the project execution.
  • Is responsible for all financial aspects of the contract, with the assistance of their project team and the project financial controller: the PM manages sales, invoicing, expenses, cost of delivery, and margin, while seeking to increase the initially planned margin.
  • Is responsible for client satisfaction while safeguarding ASN’s interests.
  • Has full autonomy in managing the Project Team on operational aspects.

Wanted profil

Degree (or equivalent) in Science, Project Management, or a related field.

Master's-level qualification (Bac+5 or equivalent) in Science, Project Management, or a relevant discipline, desirable

PMI PMP© certification would be an asset.

 

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED

 

  • Mastery of project management domains (costs, quality, planning, risks & opportunities).
  • Expertise in optical transmission networks and submarine cable system components.
  • Strong client relationship skills (internal and external).
  • Detailed knowledge of internal and external cost control mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with mechanisms used in International Contracts (entry into force, letters of credit, insurance, guarantees, Incoterms, export control and licences, duties and taxes, force majeure, penalties).
  • Mastery of the fundamentals of finance applied to project management.
  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership and ability to manage a team (functionally).
