We are now involved on an absolutely new captivating project, the series 'Messi and the Giants', produced by Sony Music Vision, Sony Pictures Television Kids and Leo Messi Management, and broadcasted by Disney. An epic saga where a young boy named Leo is transported from his home in Argentina into a fantastical alternate universe.

Job Description

Atlantis Animation is looking for skilled and passionate FX Artists (Junior, Mid and Senior) to join our growing team for the upcoming series Messi and the Giants. This is a high-profile international 3D project, blending imaginative storytelling, strong character development, and top-quality animation.

As an FX Artist, you will be responsible for the creative and technical execution of all visual effects elements, ensuring they enhance the storytelling, support the visual style, and meet the overall artistic vision of the project.

Type of contract: Fixed-term Employee contract. 

Location: Preferably on-site in Tenerife. Remote work may be considered as long as you are a Canarian resident or if you're willing to register your residence (empadronamiento) in Tenerife, as this is a key requirement for this position.

Main Responsabilities and Requirements

Main Responsibilities:

• Create, develop, and deliver high-quality FX elements such as fire, smoke, water, magic, destruction, particles, and environmental effects.
• Work closely with the FX Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of FX into the final shots.
• Interpret and implement feedback from Supervisors and Leads effectively and on time.
• Contribute to the setup and maintenance of an FX library and reusable presets to improve efficiency and consistency across the show.
• Ensure that effects are compatible with the show’s rendering and compositing pipelines.
• Use industry-standard software such as Houdini, Maya, and Nuke.
• (For Senior Artists) Mentor and support junior members of the FX team, helping to maintain quality standards and technical consistency.

Requirements:

• Level:
  • Junior: From 0 to 3 years of professional experience as an FX Artist
  • Mid-level: 3-5 years of experience 
  • Senior: 5+ years of experience
• Demonstrated experience in FX for CG animation (not live-action VFX).
• Proficiency in Houdini and Maya, including particles, fluids, rigid and soft body dynamics, Bifrost, and cloth simulations.
• Strong understanding of lighting, shading, rendering, and compositing workflows.
• Familiarity with scripting or programming (Python, VEX, MEL) for automating tasks or developing tools is a plus.
• Solid artistic sense, with a good eye for light, color, and FX design.
• Team player with excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• A valid EU/Spanish work permit is required.
• Ability to work either on-site in our beautiful Tenerife studio or remotely, provided the candidate is officially registered (empadronado) in the Canary Islands.
