ATLANTIS ANIMATION is an animation studio based in the heavenly Canary Island of Tenerife. A combination of creative talent and technology definitely distinguishes us as a different studio to produce high quality animated series and feature films. We produced the sensational series Tara Duncan and Miraculous Ladybug season 5, both broadcasted on Disney Channel and Disney +.

 

We are now involved on an absolutely new captivating project, the series 'Messi and the Giants', produced by Sony Music Vision, Sony Pictures Television Kids and Leo Messi Management, and broadcasted by Disney. An epic saga where a young boy named Leo is transported from his home in Argentina into a fantastical alternate universe.

Job Description

Atlantis Animation is seeking a talented and experienced Lighting Lead to join our creative team.

 

The Lighting Lead is responsible for leading a Lighting team throughout the production, ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality final images that meet the project's creative vision, technical requirements, and production deadlines. Working closely with the Creative Director, Production, Pipeline, and other departments, the Lighting Lead oversees shot execution, mentors artists, drives visual consistency across the project, and helps optimise workflows and lighting processes to achieve the highest artistic and technical standards.

 

Location: On-site in Tenerife

Type of contract: Fixed-term employee contract (no freelance)

Duration: From August 2026 to April 2027 approximately

Main Responsabilities and Requirements

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of lighting artists, assigning work and monitoring progress
  • Ensure all shots meet the creative direction and quality standards set by the project’s Creative Director
  • Lead daily reviews with the lighting team
  • Maintain visual consistency across sequences and shots
  • Develop creative solutions to enhance shots while supporting the storytelling
  • Responsible for ensuring a high level of quality by having a good eye for detail and cross-checking renders are up to standard
  • Be organised and methodical, dealing with large amounts of shots, tracking versions and render management
  • Aid team in creation and use of templates for lighting
  • Collaborate proactively with production, upstream departments, and pipeline teams
  • Communicate with the Pipeline team and aid in implementing improvements to the Lighting pipeline

 

Requirements:

  • A minimum of six years of Lighting experience
  • Proven experience as a Lighting Lead on CG-heavy projects (animation, film, TV, or similar)
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisational, and multitasking skills
  • Expert knowledge of Arnold
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and problem solve. Ability to be adaptable, flexible and responsive to changes
  • A superior eye for composition, colour, mood and lighting
  • Ability to work in a team environment and provide supervision and guidance for other crew members
  • Ability to take and successfully interpret a verbal or visual creative brief
  • Experience creating gizmos and templated workflows
  • Python scripting is a plus
  • Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and fluent English
  • Valid EU/Spanish work permit required
  • Availability to work on-site in Tenerife
