Context

The Robot Learning & Interaction Group at the Idiap Research Institute is searching for a R&D
Research Assistant, who will participate in the development of an early-stage robotic prototype
designed for interacting with humans, powered by NVISO sensing AI technology. In the first few
months, she/he will work under the supervision of Idiap to develop the first product iteration in a
hands-on, agile manner. Following successful completion of the first stage, the candidate is
expected to assume the role of product owner and participate in industrialization and market
deployment stages within NVISO.

Research in the Robot Learning & Interaction Group spans several disciplines at the crossroad of
robotics, machine learning, optimization, optimal control, geometry, and user interfaces. We are
particularly interested in the challenge of learning/transferring skills from only few demonstrations
or exploration trials.

NVISO, based in Innovation Park EPFL, develops Artificial Intelligence software for human
behavior and human-machine interactions.

Your profile

• Recent (master) graduate in robotics, mechatronics, computer science or equivalent
• Demonstrable skills in robotics, kinematics, C++ and Python programing
• Hands-on experience with machine learning techniques
• Results driven, dynamic and independent
• Fluent in English. French would be a plus

Start date: February 1st, 2024 (or as soon as possible)

Duration: 4.5 months full-time (internship) followed by full-time, indeterminate duration
