Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join Idiap. This position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge research project focusing on interactive machine learning for predictive manufacturing and maintenance.

 

Key Responsibilities

Within the scope of the project, the key responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Researcher include:

  • Know-how collection: Interact with operators to understand and organize their work knowledge.

  • Development of interactive learning models: Develop innovative human-in-the-loop techniques for predictive manufacturing and maintenance.

  • Co-develop interfaces: collaborate with industrial partners to develop interfaces supporting AI-human dialogues to create and fine tune models.

  • Research and Development: contribute to the research and development work of the team to deliver the project results. 

  • Publications: conduct the work necessary and contribute to the writing of scientific publications describing the methods and approaches developed within the research project.

 

Funding and Duration

This position is funded for 18 months and will start in March 2024 or as soon as possible after.

Sought profile

  • PhD Required: A PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Python/UI programming and experience in relevant modern libraries is essential.

  • Interest in Interactive learning: A keen interest in combining learning algorithms and users’ expertise, and ways to leverage human inputs to improve learning systems.

  • Machine Learning Experience: Demonstrated experience in the field of machine learning.

  • Participatory Design: Interest in working with users of technology to understand their expertise and how they can interact best with AI systems.

  • Solid English communication skills (scientific writing and speaking), French is a plus.
