Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join Idiap. This position is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a cutting-edge research project focusing on the generation and detection of synthetic documents and deepfakes. 

 

Key Responsibilities

Within the scope of project, the key responsibilities of Postdoctoral Researcher include:

 

  • Generation of visual deepfakes: advance the field of synthetic face image and video generation and develop novel generative methods to make the faces look as realistic as possible.
  • Development of Novel Detection Methods: develop innovative techniques for detecting AI-generated faces, such as deepfakes or synthetic images, with a goal to significantly improve generalisation and accuracy of the detection compared to the state of the art.
  • Generative Methods for Travel Documents: propose generative methods to produce high-resolution, realistic travel documents that currently do not exist, pushing the boundaries of generative AI.
  • Synthetic Document Detection: push forward the state of the art in the detection of synthetic images of travel documents.
  • Research and Development: contribute to the research and development work of the team do deliver the project results. 
  • Publications: conduct the work necessary and contribute to the writing of scientific publication describing the methods and approaches developed within the research project.

 

Funding and Duration

This position is funded for 18 months and will start sometime at the beginning of 2024.

Sought profile

  • PhD Required: A PhD in Computer Vision or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Python programming and experience in relevant modern libraries such as PyTorch is essential.
  • Interest in Generative AI: A keen interest in generative AI and its applications.
  • Computer Vision Experience: Demonstrated experience in the field of computer vision.
  • Reproducible Research: Experience with conducting reproducible research.
  • Experience and/or willingness to develop large deep learning-based projects in a team.
  • Solid English communication skills (scientific writing and speaking).
