About NAVER LABS Europe
NAVER LABS Europe is part of the R&D division of NAVER, Korea’s leading Internet portal and a global tech company with a range of services that include search, commerce, content, fintech, robotics and cloud.
The position
We are looking for applications from research scientists at any level or career stage to join the Robot Learning team of NAVER LABS Europe.
The Robot Learning team aims at endowing mobile manipulators with generic learning systems to make them able to perform diverse complex physical tasks in a safe, robust and versatile manner. Our learning systems are based on multimodal foundation models, allowing multi-level sequential reasoning, continual self-improvement and incorporation of different types of sensors for a large number of everyday environments. Our activities cover the whole stack from method design to real-world deployment with a focus on the latter. Our research moves out of the lab and into the real world.
The team collaborates closely with other groups at NAVER LABS, including NAVER LABS Korea, and with academic institutions. The team regularly publishes in venues such as NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ICRA, IROS.
What we're looking for (depending on your career stage)
- a PhD in robotics or/and machine learning
- strong understanding of machine learning, reinforcement learning and statistics
- knowledge of theory and practice of robotics, especially (mobile) manipulation, both from classical and machine/reinforcement learning approaches
- experience with learning methods based on vision and tactile sensors is a plus
- excellent programming skills in Python and PyTorch
- experience with distributed deep learning systems
- fluency in C++ and robotics frameworks such as ROS is a plus
- experience of working with physics-based simulators such as Isaac Sim
- a track record of research excellence with your work published in top conferences and journals in the fields of robotics (RSS, ICRA, IROS), machine learning (NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR) or computer vision (CVPR, ICCV, ECCV).
What we offer
-
Ambitious, multidisciplinary projects with experienced international research teams (30 years research in AI and related fields).
-
Flexible work/life balance.
-
An equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
-
A great location that blends urban life, technology and nature with stunning views of the Alpine mountain ranges (Belledonne, Chartreuse, Vercors).
All applications will be carefully considered, even if not all required skills are met. We value diverse backgrounds and the potential of each candidate, and we offer training to support the development of necessary skills.
