About NAVER LABS Europe
NAVER LABS Europe is part of the R&D division of NAVER, Korea’s leading Internet portal and a global tech company with a range of services that include search, commerce, content, fintech, robotics and cloud.
The position
We are seeking a highly motivated UX/UI Designer Intern to join our team.
This internship focuses on designing a new generation of robot behaviour configuration tools, enabling non-expert users to intuitively define and test how robots behave in different environments using natural language and simulation.
You will work on an experimental web-based platform that supports conversational and visual interaction with simulated robots. The system bridges LLM-powered input with robot simulation environments, making robot behaviour design more accessible to a wide range of users.
We are looking for a Master’s or PhD student with a background in UX Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Human Computer Interaction or related fields.
This internship will be based on-site at our NAVER LABS Europe (NLE) office in Grenoble, FRANCE. The selected intern will collaborate closely with members of the Human-Robot Interaction (HRI) team, as well as researchers in robotics and AI.
- Design a web-based interface for interacting with robots through LLM
- Translate abstract interaction scenarios into effective and usable visual designs
- Create clear and intuitive user flows based on use cases
- Design UI/GUI components that support behavior configuration and task simulation
- Build high-fidelity interactive prototypes using Figma
- Collaborate with researchers in HRI and AI to align interface design with system functionality
- Participate actively in design reviews and research meetings
About the HRI team
The HRI team is an interdisciplinary group of HRI researchers, computer scientists, ethnographers, and designers exploring new forms of interaction enabled by the latest AI and robotic technologies.
You’ll gain hands-on experience designing real interfaces that bridge AI, robotics, and user interaction. You will collaborate with experienced researchers and designers to shape tools used in human-robot interaction research.
What we're looking for
Requirements
- Experience or Interest in Human-Robot Interaction, simulation interfaces, or AI-based systems
- Ability to visualize concepts based on UX principles and guidelines
- Ability to design end-to-end interaction flows, from early concept to high-fidelity prototype
- Proficiency in Figma or other prototyping tools
- Strong collaboration skills in a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication skills for presenting and justifying design ideas
- A focused portfolio that showcases your most relevant and thoughtful design work — quality over quantity
Preferred Skills
- Previous work with robotics, LLM interfaces, or simulation platforms
- Familiarity with multimodal robot interaction of the robot
- Familiarity with simulation tools or environments involving spatial reasoning, environment visualization, or navigation UI design
What we offer
-
Ambitious, multidisciplinary projects with experienced international research teams (30 years research in AI and related fields).
-
Flexible work/life balance.
-
An equal opportunity employer committed to diversity and inclusion.
-
A great location that blends urban life, technology and nature with stunning views of the Alpine mountain ranges (Belledonne, Chartreuse, Vercors).
All applications will be carefully considered, even if not all required skills are met. We value diverse backgrounds and the potential of each candidate, and we offer training to support the development of necessary skills.
