Accounting Administrative Support Apprentice

We are looking for a motivated and detail oriented Accounting Administrative Support Apprentice to join our Finance team in Greenwich.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career in finance while working towards a professional accounting qualification. You will gain valuable experience across a wide range of accounting activities, supporting financial processes, reporting, controls, and compliance activities within a global organisation.

Main Accountabilities

  • Support day-to-day accounting operations, including account reconciliations and analysis.
  • Process accounting transactions within the ERP system, including supplier, payroll, tax, banking and fixed asset entries.
  • Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial close activities.
  • Apply ASN and Group accounting policies, IFRS standards and internal control procedures.
  • Assist with internal control activities and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to responses for internal and external audit requests.
  • Produce predefined financial and analytical reports.
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Finance team.
  • Create payment runs and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
  • Assist with User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for systems and process improvements.

Responsibilities & Autonomy

  • Ensure the accuracy and reliability of accounting information within assigned areas.
  • Follow internal and external accounting procedures and deadlines.
  • Maintain a high standard of quality and attention to detail in all work produced.
  • Escalate anomalies, issues, or risks to the line manager.
  • Support the continuous improvement of accounting tools and processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality when handling financial and business information.

Education & Training

      Working towards, or looking to begin, a professional accounting qualification such as:

    • AAT
    • CIMA
    • ACCA
    • Equivalent accounting qualification

Skills & Experience

  • Some previous experience in an administration, finance or accounting environment would be advantageous.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • An interest in accounting and financial processes.
  • ERP system experience (SAP experience would be beneficial but not essential).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Adaptable and willing to learn in a fast-paced environment.
