PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
The role will be to provide and deliver core building services across the Greenwich site as directed by the Soft Services Manager. This will include but not be limited to providing a broad range of services to facilitate building repairs, decoration, furniture moves and repairs, hazardous/routine waste collection and landscape management.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Building Technician will be working directly for the Soft Services Manager. The role will be fully embedded within the team and attend meetings, briefings and all appropriate team activities. The role will form a key part of the team and as such be a pivotal role in the delivery of critical business services. The role will be supporting the operational business and reacting to critical emergencies and a broad range of activities as requested by the line manager. The role may be required to work out of hours/weekends on occasions.
Key responsibilities within scope will include, but not be limited the following activities.
- Minor building improvements/refurbishments
- Reactive building requests
- Decoration/floor repairs
- Gardening work on our perimeter road
- Litter picking
- Moving and supporting desk and office installations
- Lock management/replacement
- Building inspections
- Management/coordination/storage of hazardous waste
- Management of audio-visual arrangements – presentations
- Setting out of chairs for meetings and reverting
- Minor drain clearing
- Roof inspections
- Supporting production requests for minor alterations/moves
- Porterage requests
- Emergency spill response
- Dealing with some emergencies and escalation of site services issues
- Supporting HSE enquiries and requests for the operational teams
- Assisting with the set up and take down of equipment/chairs/tables for social/corporate events
- Ad hoc activities
Planning and Reporting
· Provide update information on the progress of backlog and work schedules.
· Ensure all H&S measures are in place or escalated to line management if gaps are observed for a robust and compliant service delivery
· Ensure statutory duties/responsibilities under the role of the Building Technician are completed on time and maintained
· Ensure PPM and Reactive works are completed efficiently, effectively and with a high level of customer/stakeholder focus
· Effective feedback of any observations for improvement or efficiency to the line manager
Training
Site awareness training/induction will be provided along with any guidance required on ASN systems
Ongoing professional development will be supported as appropriate
QHSE
Support the operations team with the management and delivery of the induction/PTW processes and any issues are escalated to line management
Mandatory training is maintained and up to date for all systems
Any H&S issues are escalated to the appropriate line manager or HSE representative
Administrative
The role will require the completion and updating of CAFM scheduled work in order that work demand and backlog can be managed
Administrative functions will be completed as directed by the line manager
Wanted profil
Education, Knowledge and Experience required for the job
- Significant experience in a professional manufacturing or similar working environment
- Extensive experience of building/decorating services supporting in a facilities environment
- Helpdesk/CAFM experience is desirable
- Experience of the management of waste disposal and landscape servicing
- Organisation and basic IT administration skills
- Telephone and customer management experience
- Proactive and positive approach to service delivery and stakeholder interface
