The Cable Route Engineer is an essential technical role within the ASN Marine Directorate, supporting ASN in planning, designing, manufacturing and installing submarine cables across the world’s oceans. Working on turnkey supply projects, the role oversees the Cable Route Study and Marine Survey phases within the various project timelines.

4 MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES/ ACTIVITIES (List the main activities of the job. Begin with an action verb reflecting the job's responsibilities for the end-result. State the expected end-result. Identify key actions).
- Office based role with responsibility for all aspects of Cable Route Studies (desk top studies, site visits), database compilation and chart production using ESRI ARCGIS software.
- Carry out Cable Route Engineering using Makai Plan (on Geomedia GIS) to generate Route Position Lists (RPLs) and Straight Line Diagrams (SLDs) for cable manufacture and installation.
- Review and perform quality control of the Marine Survey Reports delivered to ASN prior to Customer delivery.
- Opportunities for offshore work and worldwide travel (site visits, customer & sub-contractor meetings, survey operations).
- Work as a member of the Route Engineering team, seeing projects through from initial feasibility studies to marine survey and up to installation phase.
- Working within the ASN Marine directorate and supporting the ASN Project Management directorate.
5 RESPONSIBILITIES & AUTONOMY
· Quality and on time delivery of RPL and SLDs to ASN’s standards.
· Workload management in alignment with project implementation timelines.
· Operational management of subcontracted survey activities and ASN survey representatives.
Wanted profil
- 1 REQUIRED EDUCATION & TRAININGS
- Degree in Oceanography and/or related Earth Sciences.
- Hydrographic Survey experience preferred.
- Experience with GIS systems.
2 REQUIRED EXPERIENCES and COMPETENCIES
- Good working knowledge of GIS packages
- Ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally with suppliers and customers, delivering presentations in a confident and professional manner
- Self-motivated, flexible and cooperative within a dedicated team, working in a matrix organisation structure for the successful delivery of ASN’s projects
