PRIMARY PURPOSE AND OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:

Ensures industrialization and introduction of new high reliability products into production (submerge and terrestrial). Define and design new tooling and equipment to simplify the assembly of Optical/ Electrical products in Production whilst maintaining quality and reliability. 

 

MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1.    Works closely with SED/R&D to ensure products are designed for ease of manufacturing and produced reliably and performs consistently. 

2.    Evaluates prototype parts/assembly of new designs and provide feedback to SED/R&D on various issues to aid assembly procedure and tooling design. 

3.    Designs tooling and equipment required to simplify the assembly of the product. 

4.    Propose alternative tooling solutions to address various assembly requirement, improve  and automate the assembly process.

5.    Design tooling using Creo CAD package to the required specification for quotation, manufacture and 3D modelling. Use of Creo CAD package in line with company procedure.

6.    Performing Load and Stress analysis,  engineering  calculations.

7.    Perform component and material selection and  validation.

8.    Design within BS and ISO standards. 

9.    Perform Tooling Design reviews with stakeholders. Prepare presentation and  reports for the  design reviews.

10.    Sourcing of external equipment to aid and improved production operations.

11.    Working with Tooling Manufactures to answer any technical questions promptly and professionally. Ensuring on time delivery of tooling.

12.    Inspection of new tooling upon delivery to Greenwich to ensure conformance with drawing specification.

13.     Performing tooling validation and  validation documentation ( Plan, report, ITS,  pictures,  videos).

14.    Provide  Lifting Equipment  Design/technical documentation in line with  Health and Safety standards.

15.    Understand and comply with the clean area environmental rules. Adhere to mandatory Quality and Safety procedures, including build documentation, ESD, Risk assessments, COSHH and Manual Handling regulations.

16.    Define the calibration period & inspection requirement for each tooling. Maintain in-house maintenance databases where applicable. Ensure that Maintenance requirements, spare parts strategy/information, TPM are recorded and released to  manufacturing.

17.    Performing DFMEA, RA (machine/tooling/equipment), PUWER assessments.

18.    Training of Operators/Trainers in the use of new tooling and build processes.

19.    Attends products New Process Introduction (NPI) and New Product Introduction meetings and provide inputs into the minutes. Provide reports or  meeting minutes. 

20.    Ensures assembly tooling documentation is  approved and released on time. 

21.    Ensures that tooling / equipment are procured and validated/commissioned as per ASN standard to meet development and production plans. 

22.     Perform investigations and Root Causes analysis  for the tooling defects. Implement improvements and poka-yoke solutions to eliminate  defects in the future.

23.    Constantly reviews and analysis production processes  and tooling to improve efficiency, quality, HSE, down time, reject rates and reduce standard times and cost. 

24.    Conducts production processes audits on tooling procedures to ensure all are compliant. 

25.    Leads/ participates in variety of Kaizen projects to reduce waste, improve standard build times and reduce production cost. 

26.    Support  and  collaborate with department:  Supply Chain Engineers, Purchasing,  Quality , Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Support,  Training School, Call Off, SQM, etc.

Wanted profil

Education, Knowledge and Experience required for the job: 

  • Engineering degree or equivalent (mechanical, industrial, production).
  • Ability to make reliability engineering judgements under pressure
  • Experience working on Creo CAD package
  • Experience in a technical and/or manufacturing environment
  • Organised, disciplined & methodical approach to problem solving
  • Motivated with strong interpersonal & team skills
  • Sound practical experience with Excel and Word
  • Aptitude for learning ASN’s local business software (e.g. SAP, sDMS).
  • FMEA software experience (beneficial)
  • NPI experience (beneficial)
  • 3D print design experience (beneficial)
