Responsibilities:
The candidate will manage 1 commodity buyer based in Calais, who is in charge of jointing portfolio. Both commodity buyers are managing 100% of the ASN cable suppliers.
Negotiator
- Define and implement a purchasing strategy to secure cost reduction/spending for cable raw material suppliers.
- Diversify the supplier panel to secure supply, challenge prices, and ensure technological watch.
- Handle the negotiation of purchasing terms with suppliers within the scope: initiate consultations, analyze responses, select suppliers according to plant constraints, draft supplier contracts, and monitor their implementation.
- Monitor raw material markets (copper, aluminum, steel, PE, oil, etc.) to optimize and secure purchasing prices with suppliers.
- Organize monthly internal follow-up meetings on raw material market trends and ASN commitments to provide visibility on Bid Costs (price projections for client quotations) to the sales and marketing teams.
- Identify supplier risks (Supplier Risk Assessment or others) and implement risk management action plans (preventive measures).
- Develop a supplier panel mapping by purchasing family (preferred, approved, restricted, prohibited, strategic). Monitor the supplier ecosystem evolution within the scope to ensure competitive bidding processes.
- Track supplier performance (delivery, quality, payment terms). Organize and manage Supplier Business Reviews and supplier evaluations.
- Collaborate closely with the Supplier Quality Management (SQM) team to monitor supplier quality performance.
Advanced Procurement
The role of Advanced Procurement (APE) is to support the R&D team with project requirements during the design phase.
It also provides a product cost overview throughout its lifecycle.
APE defines the standard cost of all raw materials.
Objectives:
Cost Reduction:
- Identify more competitive suppliers than the current ones.
- Conduct supplier visits for qualification and during qualification lot production.
- Collaborate with R&D to identify additional cost-saving opportunities (manufacturing lead times, cost, etc.).
- Provide cost, lead time, and design optimization recommendations.
- Implement purchasing contracts and manage procurement risks.
- Work in a project-based team environment.
- Demonstrate rigor and autonomy.
- Exhibit analytical and synthesis skills.
Profile required
Proficiency in SAP for purchasing data configuration:
- Purchasing views of items
- Purchasing info records and contracts
- BOM valuation
- Sources of supply
- Quotas
Proven experience in purchasing negotiations:
- Prices
- Lead times
- Payment terms
- Incoterms
- Risk and ownership transfers
- Insurance
- Continuity plans
- Fluency in English is essential
- Master’s degree (BAC +5)
- At least 5 years of purchasing experience in commodities such as copper and steel.
- Compensation based on experience.
