Offshore Operations Superintendent

Main Accountabilities

• Supervise offshore cable installation and repair operations onboard ASN and third-party vessels.
• Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with approved installation procedures, work methods and contractual requirements.
• Report daily operational progress, technical status and risks to the Project Marine Manager (PMM).
• Support offshore vessel teams to successfully deliver installation and repair scopes of work.
• Interface with Offshore Operations Managers, Vessel Masters and Client Representatives to ensure successful project delivery.
• Identify operational risks and contribute to effective technical and commercial solutions.
• Assist with complex installation activities, including branching unit deployment calculations and cable re-routing activities.
• Support survey teams in verifying project parameters and installation protocols.
• Ensure ASN supplied submarine cable assets maintain integrity throughout installation and maintenance operations.
• Coordinate offshore activities while ensuring adherence to QHSE requirements and best practices.
• Conduct wash-up meetings at project completion and issue operational reports to stakeholders.

   

   

Responsibilities & Autonomy

Operations Management

• Assess vessel readiness and review operational meeting outcomes before mobilization.
• Monitor installation progress against project requirements.
• Support operational decision-making during dynamic offshore situations.
• Ensure changes to work plans maintain both safety and project objectives.
• Maintain effective communication with offshore management teams and clients.
• Coordinate SIMOPS activities with client representatives when required.

Asset Integrity Management

• Ensure the integrity of ASN cable products and associated subsea hardware during operations.
• Highlight technical concerns raised by cable jointing and testing teams.
• Raise Installation Incident Reports (IIR) and Marine Installation Incident Reports (MIIR) where required.
• Support investigations and reporting of installation incidents and asset integrity concerns.

QHSE

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture offshore.
• Ensure subcontractors comply with contractual HSE requirements.
• Participate in toolbox talks, risk assessments and safety briefings.
• Report incidents, accidents and near misses in accordance with ASN and vessel procedures.
• Ensure all incidents are communicated to the Project Marine Manager.

Experience & Qualifications

• • Marine operations experience as a Master, Chief Officer, Operations Officer or Survey Team Leader within the cable installation industry.
  • Minimum 5 years of offshore installation operations experience.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore installation methodologies and marine operations.
  • Comprehensive understanding of QHSE processes and requirements.
  • Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders within complex offshore environments.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • French language skills would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and perform under pressure.
