Purpose of the Job: |
Design and development of mechanical parts and assemblies used in Power Feeding Equipment (PFE) product. Support PFE production investigations, liaising with design and industrial engineers. The PFE provides the current to power undersea cable systems, generating High Voltage (up to 21kV DC at up to 2 Amps) from a low to medium voltage DC supply, with a long system life and high reliability. |
Responsibilities: |
Product development within the following mechanical engineering disciplines:
Tools: PTC Creo MCAD tools PTC Windchill MS Office incl. MS Visio Developed products to be modelled and tested during the development phase and formally validated during the qualification phase against requirements for:
Liaison with suppliers, physical modelling, and prototyping of new designs. Generation of requirement specifications, drawings, and files. Creation and release of manufacturing drawings/documents as required.

Profile required
Qualifications: |
Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject. Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant R&D, preferably with experience of manufacturing. Good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, with some understanding of the electrical, electronic and software disciplines used in the overall equipment. Experience of thermal modelling and air flow analysis using PTC Creo or similar tools would be advantageous. Good communication skills and ability to work in a team. |
