OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE JOB:
Responsible for the repair, maintenance, and calibration of Fusion splicers and associated splicing equipment, ensuring equipment reliability and quality compliance to support production output.
Main accountabilities / activities include:
- Perform repair, maintenance, and calibration of Fusion splicers and associated equipment in line with manufacturer standards and internal guidelines.
- Conduct preventative maintenance checks to ensure equipment is in optimum working condition.
- Provide hands-on support to manufacturing technicians, diagnosing and resolving splicing-related issues on the production floor.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, maintenance, and calibration activities for audit and compliance.
- Ensure all work is conducted in adherence to Health & Safety, quality, and compliance policies.
- Confirm all permits associated with equipment and repair work are valid and up to date.
- Collaborate effectively with team members and cross-functional departments to ensure operational continuity.
- Proactively report on equipment condition, maintenance schedules, and any recurring faults to management.
- Promote a collaborative and supportive environment, mentoring junior staff and driving a culture of accountability and cross-functional teamwork.
- Work with other teams on NPIs and NRPs.
- Follow process and adhere to STOP process for Safety and Quality.
- Communicate effectively with departmental staff & internal customers.
- Build and Maintain good working relationships with department colleagues, staff and support depts.
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and data as required.
- Act as a role model for safety and quality promoting use of STOP culture
- Ensure company Health & Safety policies are applied; ensure all staff activities are carried out in a safe manner.
- Review of tooling as fit for purpose, replacing if required
- Record and track any improvement opportunities actively seeking them from team.
- Splicing equipment uptime: ≥98%.
- Preventive maintenance schedule compliance: 100%.
- Repair turnaround time: < 48 hours for standard faults.
- Zero overdue permits or calibration certificates.
- Ensure all tooling and equipment used are correct, calibrated, and maintained in good working order.
- Verify that all specifications, drawings, and technical documents used are current and accurate.
- Promote 6s and lean manufacturing principles, actively supporting the area champion in driving CIs
Wanted profil
Education/qualifications/experience:
- Previous experience in a Manufacturing environment or support role outside or within ASN.
- NVQ Level 4 or equivalent.
- Experience of Lean manufacturing principles an advantage.
- Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively interact with others Communication skills, written and oral.
- Able to demonstrate excellent organizational Skills – able to plan production schedules and monitor materials availability.
- Familiarity with company policies and procedures.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to move and navigate amongst different areas.
Rotating shift pattern – over weekdays and weekends
