Post description

Role purpose:

 

Assist the Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure the efficient running of the manufacturing line. Lead a technician team of up to 15 people, to maximise people efficiency and deliver weekly output to required quality.

 

Main activities include:

  • Ensure that technicians comply with the build processes to manufacture product.
  • Ensure all Tooling and Equipment used is in good working order and within calibration.
  • Ensure the stop to work and intervene policy is adhered to.
  • Ensure all specification & drawings used are up to date.
  • Manage departmental scrap, generating scrap notes when required.
  • Ensure any permits used are within date.
  • Provide support and guidance to Technicians to reduce lost time and in-efficiencies.
  • Ensure technicians are following process, raising appropriate paperwork to request changes
  • Understand all people management policies and procedures.
  • Familiarity with all ASN policies and procedures.
  • Support team with regular walk/talk and observation of build.
  • Promote 6s and lean manufacturing principles, actively supporting the area champion in driving CIs
  • Requirement to work on Lean and 6S if requested.
  • WIP must be balanced to ensure weekly output targets are met.
  • Any other reasonable requests.
  • Mentor new technicians, ensure they understand what is required.
  • Build employee motivation & morale.
  • Communicate effectively with departmental staff & supervision.
  • Build and maintain good working relationships with department staff and supervisor.
  • Cover for the supervisor in their absence.
  • Present team briefs.
  • Ensure all team members have completed their training and are officially certified before they begin any process
  • Implement the production schedule to ensure departmental weekly demand is met.
  • Liaise with supervisor and materials team to ensure material availability.
  • Assist supervisor in tracking & recording key departmental KPIs.

Wanted profil

Education/qualifications/experience:

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role outside ASN, or as a Temporary Team Leader within ASN.
  • Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent organizational Skills – Able to plan production schedules and monitor materials availability.
  • Demonstrable Team Leader experience.
